A Place for Poetry in the South West

Welcome to Close Poetry! We are a community of poets and poetry lovers who meet in the heart of Salisbury for open mic nights, performances by local poets, for a chance to connect and share work in a supportive environment.

Purpose

In the heart of Salisbury, tucked beside the Cathedral Close, we bring together local poets, creating and sharing work that's near to the heart, close to the bone, work that makes us take a breath, break into laughter, work that presses against the surface of our lives and invites us to look within.

Whether you're an experienced performer or a first timer, Close Poetry is the perfect place to share your work. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, nurturing environment for poets at all stages of your journey.  

 

There is never any pressure to perform — you can simply grab a ticket, a drink, and enjoy the performances!
